Pavel Ovchinnikov’s firm made this jewelry box in the spirit of medieval Europe; its high lid is decorated with fretwork reminiscent of Gothic crockets and tracery. This jewelry box demonstrates the firm’s artisans’ mastery of champlevé enamel, in which the deeper parts of the metal meant for “glass, full of paint” are engraved.
