The Museum’s collection contains an artwork by one the founders of Impressionism - Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Like for the other Impressionists, his main goal was to depict the world around him with all its fleeting and changing qualities. The Impressionists were among the first to break up complex tones into simpler ones, applying colors directly on top of each other, which gave their paintings a remarkable immediacy and vitality.
Through his impressions en plein air, the artist was able to masterfully convey the dynamic atmosphere of Paris.
