The main group of works made by the celebrated master in silver articles Feodor Rückert consists of objects decorated with inserts of painted enamel with architectural vistas of different cities. In like manner, Rückert made the House of Fabergé a jewelry box with an enamel miniature painting of the Moscow Kremlin seen from the Moscow River embankment. This cigarette case with a depiction of the Bronze Horseman most prominently features a color scheme of cold grayish-silver and dark brownish-green hues, which match the overcast landscape of St. Petersburg, built in the “gloom of Finnish swamps.” The Museum’s collection also includes Rückert’s matchbox, made for Fabergé and featuring a rendering of the Admiralty Building in St. Petersburg, as well as a jewelry box featuring the likeness of Emperor Alexander II in Kyiv made on commission to the House of Marchak in 1911.
